    For 6 years, Swearingen worked for one of the world's largest air medical companies as one of their 3 top educators. He understands the corporate world and can relate to corporate audiences.

  • US Volleyball Player

    Swearingen is also #13 for the US National Volleyball team (Sitting Discipline). Sitting volleyball is played seated on the ground but is still wildly exciting to watch.

  • Amputee

    Swearingen was born with no ankle bones and had his legs below the knee amputated just before his first birthday. He has been on prosthetics since, which hasn't stopped him in the least. He speaks to not only disabled individuals needing help launching, but also parents and families who need guidance on how to best help their loved ones become more active.

  • Husband and Father

    Swearingen met his wife, Marge, in Oklahoma while training with Team USA. They got married and moved to Denver for 6 years, and a few years ago they moved back to Mississippi (his home state) to be closer to family since Marge was pregnant with their daughter, Isla. Isla is now 2 years old and is keeping Charlie and Marge pretty busy and tired, but full of love.

    Swearingen started MeduPros.com which specializes in training tomorrow's critical care transport professionals. Teaching to future and currect clinicians is one of his favorite activities.

  • Podcaster

    Along with Greg "ShadeTree Cardiology" Carr, Charlie is one of the colorful hosts of the EM Unplugged podcast, where emergency, prehospital, transport, and critical care medicine are discussed.

    Swearingen has written and self-published over 10 books, mostly in the field of critical care transport. He reports he cannot spell too "gud" but loves to share knowledge, and admits he loves writing.

    Charlie is a board member of EMS Success, based out of Oklahoma City, and supports EMS first responders with scholarship opportunities, courses, and other educational resources.
